L'histoire : Londres, 1920. Après un mariage trop vite accepté pour convenances sociales, Kitty part avec son mari, Walter, médecin bactériologiste, pour vivre à Shanghai où il doit mener des recherches. Rapidement, la jeune femme tombe amoureuse d'un autre homme.
Lorsque Walter découvre l'adultère dont il est victime, il promet à Kitty de lui accorder un divorce qui ne mentionnera pas son infidélité et lui conservera ainsi une réputation sans tache, si son amant quitte sa femme pour l'épouser. Walter sait que cet homme place sa carrière avant ses nombreuses conquêtes féminines.
Abandonnée par son amant, brisée, Kitty accompagne son mari dans une région où une épidémie de choléra balaie les populations et où les guerres locales font rage...

Un film magnifique mais aussi tragique. Une vie étouffée par les convenances sociales, le manque de dialogue, l'incompréhension et les préjugés. Un amour inconditionnel mal partagé au début du film et trop vite écourté par les aléas de la vie.

Inna is a lovely 23 years old Romanian Dance singer who starts to be known in France. I discovered Inna two years ago through my boyfriend who lives for the moment in Turkey. Inna is very popular in Turkey. She sings in clubs. She came to France recently to promote her songs. I first heard her on NRJ three months ago I would say with her title "hot" which for me was already old. Her CD should be released in France on July 19, 2010. Meantime she did some magazine covers as FHM France.

She does not say a lot about her in the article but her pictures are definitely showing her perfect young plastic. From my point of you Inna has a great voice. She sings commercial stuff but it suits her and hopefully she will sing for a while. The only thing which bothers me a lot is the fact that she is wearing "bathing suits" on stage. It may be a particularity of her singer personage but she could wear so much nicer outfits. But I definitely like her shoes.

Today, July 4th, 2010 in the United States they are celebrating Independence Day. Commonly known as the Fourth of July, it is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches together with ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

I discovered this lovely bracelet (I would love to own one) reading Lovely Pip posts of the day. The box is gorgeous. I especially like the creativity of using this foreigner newspaper to wrap the box and then the sign announcing in big letters "Big friendship". This bracelet with others are avalable on Etsy.

While on my lunch break going through the Metropole Galerie I could discovered Hiro Ando exhibition. His sumocats come in different sizes. They are red, black, white and grey.

Hiro Ando was born in 1973 on the Island of Shikoku in Japan. In 1995, Hiro Ando began a career as an illustrator after graduating from the university of Tama Art in Tokyo. In 2005, he founded an artists' studio in Tokyo with another artist , Saori Nakamishi to manage the creation and promotion of other young neo-pop artists who include their own popular culture in their creations. Today around 10 artists are part of this studio "Crazynoodles". Hiro Ando is a polyvalent artist. He has used oil on canvas, digital supports and worked in video art. Hiro's technique consists in elaborating several basic sketches before painting on the canvas. The last take shapes and emerges from the streets of Tokyo by night, they are clad with colors and graphics and move in groups. Hiro paints dark urban landscapes with red fish scattered in the canvas. The mix of the two topics makes the whole canvas both dynamic and violent, with an odd feeling of eternity due to the red fish which are reminiscent of ancient Japanese paintings and watercolors. Just recently Ando added sculpture to his large spread of media and started working on a series of sculptures which were inspired by his Japanese popular culture. In this way, the cat, which in Japan is a lucky charm in the form of the Maneki-Neko, comes in a variety of traditionnal Japanese figures such as the Samurai or the Sumo. He translates this theme in a very modern way. The shiny and smooth materials, the bright colors, the sharp but rounded shapes of Hiro Ando's sculptures take us to the world of Mangas in which the artist's generation grew up in. The art of Hiro ANDO is the meeting between the Meiji era and the Manga , it is Shogun in Pokemon land , it is traditionnal Japan viewed through young eyes : it definitely is Japanese Neo Pop Art.
